Do you climb in the 5s or 6s, enjoy well-exposed routes on beautiful rock, but aren’t necessarily chasing performance? Good news: Éditions Vamos has just released a new guidebook made for you.
50 Great Climbing Routes around Chamonix–Mont-Blanc offers a varied and inspiring selection of long routes up to 6a max, all located within an hour of Chamonix.

A condensed dose of pleasure in the Mont Blanc massif
You’ll find more than 50 climbing routes, spread across seven major sectors: Brévent, Flégère, Les Chéserys, Mer de Glace, Vallorcine, Switzerland, and Italy. In short, you’ve got plenty to explore.

Each route is described with precision and clarity: approach, route profile, pitch lengths, topo diagram, rock type, orientation, key points of attention—everything you need to plan your climb with confidence.
The guidebook gets straight to the essentials without sacrificing inspiration: maps, photos, and descriptions all make you want to lace up your climbing shoes.
And on top of that, every route is located within an hour of Chamonix.

Passionate authors deeply rooted in the massif
Behind this guidebook are two climbers who are truly connected to the terrain: François Burnier, a Chamonix-based high mountain guide and author of several Vamos guidebooks, and Clément Guillot, a mountain leader and passionate local climber.
Their guiding principle: to make beautiful routes accessible—just the right amount of commitment, carefully selected, and always aesthetically rewarding.

Paper or digital? Both!
The printed guidebook is directly connected to the Whympr app. For each route, a QR code gives you access to additional content on the app, including:
- local weather forecasts
- avalanche bulletins
- slope angle maps
- GPX tracks
- offline navigation maps
- community feedback and reports

💡 And if you’ve bought the printed guidebook, all the routes are available for free in Whympr!
Simply send a proof of purchase (receipt, photo of the book, etc.), and you’ll unlock the full pack in the app. It’s a convenient way to travel light, check a detail from the car, or read recent feedback before committing to a route.
If you don’t buy the printed guidebook, you can also purchase individual routes or packs directly in Whympr.
A true invitation to climb differently
This guidebook is a gateway to a wide variety of routes—far from performance pressure, but close to what really matters: the joy of being on the wall, in a stunning setting, at your own pace. Perfect for enjoying solo, with a partner, or with friends.
The guide is available in bookstores, online on the Éditions Vamos website, and of course on the Whympr app in the Pro Guidebooks section.
