La Mégevanne: The 100% Women’s Trail Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness

A solidarity trail in the heart of Megève

La Mégevanne is a 100% women’s event that combines mountain running, a friendly atmosphere, and solidarity. A portion of the registration fees is donated to two associations dedicated to fighting breast cancer: Cœur Vanessa and Les Bonnes Fées.

Pink October: awareness and solidarity

October is all about breast cancer awareness, with lots of events happening across France. Taking part in La Mégevanne is a way to support the cause while enjoying the mountains and fresh air. The pink ribbon we see everywhere remains a powerful symbol of solidarity and the fight against breast cancer.

Whympr, a committed partner

At Whympr, we’re thrilled to do our part in this campaign. As an all-in-one app for planning outdoor adventures, we’re proud to partner with this solidarity trail and contribute to such a meaningful initiative.

Because Megève is chic, but it’s also ethical 🩷.

Running to support each other

Taking part in events like La Mégevanne helps raise awareness about breast cancer, support research, and show solidarity with women affected by the disease. It’s also a chance to come together in a friendly, supportive atmosphere while enjoying a mountain run, sometimes a little muddy… October brings the best autumn colors and the perfect grippy trails for a true fall trail experience!

A solidarity edition: giving back to associations

For this 8th edition, part of the registration fees is donated to two associations:

Les Bonnes Fées

Founded in 2015 by former Miss France winners and chaired by Sylvie Tellier, Les Bonnes Fées supports women with breast cancer by guiding them through their journey and offering social and aesthetic care, such as post-mastectomy tattoos, which often help women reclaim their body and self-esteem. The association also runs awareness campaigns and fundraising initiatives to support cancer research.

Cœur Vanessa

Founded and chaired by Annick Laurent, Cœur Vanessa collects and redistributes funds to help children with cancer as well as women with breast cancer. Based in Haute-Savoie, the association organizes events to raise public awareness and financially supports public health organizations, local associations, and projects assisting patients.

La Mégevanne: Two Routes to Explore Megève’s Stunning Landscapes

On October 11, 2025, La Mégevanne offered two trail distances for the runners:

  • 9 km with 300 m of positive elevation,
  • 16.5 km with 700 m of positive elevation.

All detailed information for each route is available in the Whympr app.

Starting in the heart of the village with breathtaking views

The race kicked off in the center of Megève, heading towards Rochebrune along trails with stunning views of Mont-Joly and the Mont-Blanc massif. Running surrounded by beautiful mountain landscapes is a great way to forget tired legs, muddy shoes, and the fact that the next aid station is still far away.

Refreshments at Lac de Javen

The aid station was set up at Lac de Javen, a charming little lake tucked in the alpine pastures, home to trout and tadpoles. Runners could also adjust their route: at the 5 km mark, it was possible to shorten or extend the loop depending on your level and preference.

After the effort, the reward

At the end of the race, a big festive evening was organized, featuring hot meals, music, a raffle, and even hair styling for those who wanted it.

Pink Walk and activities for everyone

Didn’t want to run? No problem! The Pink Walk in the village allowed everyone to take part in the event.

And we didn’t forget the kids: the Meg’Family is a fun run where little ones and their parents can race through the town center (costumes mandatory!). The youngest participants could also enjoy foot and bike activities throughout the village.

Shared values: making the mountains accessible to everyone

Since day one, Whympr has been committed to making the mountains accessible to everyone, no matter who you are. By bringing together as many tools as possible in one app, we now offer a product suited to all kinds of outdoor activities, encouraging everyone to get out and explore nature.

Summer engagement: supporting “En passant par la montagne”

Back in June, we had the chance to give a little help to the En passant par la montagne association during the Chamonix Film Festival. This organization makes the mountains accessible to vulnerable or excluded people. Sharing a climb with the young members of the association was one of our most memorable experiences of the summer.

Pink October speaks to us: supporting the solidarity trail in Megève

So naturally, a trail supporting the fight against breast cancer really spoke to us. Megève is just next to Chamonix, making it easy for us to help organize the event. All the information and routes are available in Whympr, and our Web App allowed us to create a big, beautiful visual of the trails, available in the Pack Outdoor.

Prizes to enjoy nature all year round

The winners received Whympr, Iphigénie, and Pack Outdoor prizes, everything you need to fully enjoy nature in every season!

Whympr and 1% for the Planet: a long-term commitment

One last thing: Whympr is part of 1% for the Planet, which means that a portion of the profits from Whympr, Iphigénie, and Éditions Vamos goes to carefully selected associations. This has allowed us to support Mountains Rider, CREA Mont-Blanc, and Sylv’ACCTES.
